COMMISSIONERS OF PUBLIC WORKS

Minutes of August 9, 2006

A special joint meeting of the Board of Commissioners of Public Works and members of the Greenwood City Council was held on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at 6:00 p.m., at the Central Operations Center in Greenwood, SC.

I.          The meeting was called to order by Mayor Nicholson and Chairman Hancock.

 

II.                 The statement of compliance with the notification provision of the Freedom of Information Act was given.

 

III.               Discussion:

 

            A.        The Commissioners and City Council members discussed the cost/benefit of annexation. This included the effects of property tax versus vehicle tax.  A recommendation was made to develop a tax comparison between County residency and City residency. There was agreement that both agencies have worked very well together and that each has a good handle on City versus County costs. A brief discussion of parks followed.
